Single Channel Gated Integrating Detector (SCGID)

The Photon Systems’ single channel gated integrating detector (SCGID) is a plug & play gated boxcar integrator and averager that synchronizes detection current sources such as PMTs, photodiodes, optical beam induced current detectors or other current sources with the emission from a Photon Systems deep UV laser. It is plug and play with Photon Systems lasers and can be easily synchronized with any detector. The SCGID synchronized detection can improve the signal to noise ratio of detection many thousands of times compared to CW detection and enables detection of sensitive materials such as microbes or biological material without damage of the analyte.

The SCGID has three selectable or autogain capacitors covering a three decade range with built-in current source for calibrating the capacitance of the three capacitors. The SCGID has an on-board microprocessor with memory and loop-up-table to automatically calculate the number of incident photons on the detector corresponding to the capacitance and number of photoelectrons collected during a selectable integration period. During autogain operation, capacitors are automatically chosen to optimize the performance. The SDGID can integrate photons or electrons for any period of time during or after a laser excitation pulse, enabling decay time measurements.  For the case of detection using a PMT, the SCGID plugs directly into Hamamatsu metal can PMTs modules such as H6780 series of detectors. The SCGID can provide over seven (7) decades of dynamic range in detection for sensitive Raman emissions or strong fluorescence emissions or weak optical beam induced current emissions.

Each SCGID can control a single source, but can be daisy chained to accommodate a large number of simultaneous detection channels.

32 Channel Gated Integrating Detector

The Photon Systems’ 32-channel gated integrating detector (32-CGID) is a plug & play gated boxcar integrator and average, similar to the Single Channel Gated Integrating Detector (SCGID), that synchronizes detection current sources such as PMTs, photodiodes, optical beam induced current detectors or other current sources with the emission from a Photon Systems deep UV lasers.

Deep UV Lasers

The DUV family of lasers offer 224.3 nm and 248.6 nm for fraction of the cost of the competition. The laser is the size, weight and power consumption of a HeNe laser but with output in the deep UV.

Capillary Electrophoresis

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a separation technology, which can cleanly separate trace samples as small as 1 pL (10-12 L), whether they are ions, small molecules, or large biomolecules. Detection sensitivity has been the primary system limitation for this technology. However, using deep UV laser induced native fluorescence detectors, detection limits are approaching zeptomole (10-21 mole) level.
